_Art is of the essence.
I discovered the beauty of Asian Brush painting years ago through a study of Chinese poetry. The two forms evolved together; both strive to express the essence of their subject — the elemental words and strokes of the brush that will bring it alive. In my own work I also try to find this essential communication through word and image.
I paint both in the classic Asian style and in a fusion of Western watercolor techniques with the age-old Asian traditions.
I have studied with Asian painters and calligraphers in the US and China, and my paintings have been exhibited in New York, Washington, DC, Asheville, North Carolina, and Sarasota, Florida. My work has been featured in the Sumi-e Quarterly, Laurel of Asheville and ArtSee magazines.
